Europe: Real.de becomes Kaufland's online marketplace

The Schwarz Gruppe (owner of discounter Lidl and supermarket chain Kaufland) takes over the online marketplace real.de from the SCP Group (present owner of supermarket chain Real). The European Commission has now given merger control approval for this. “The online marketplace will ideally complement our stationary business as a further sales channel. This enables us as a company to position ourselves even more strongly for the future, ”explains Rolf Schumann, Board Member for Digitization at the Schwarz Group.

The services of real.de are still available to shoppers and marketplace traders as usual. In addition to a wide range of non-food products with over 300,000 SKUs, customers can choose from over 19 million items from marketplace retailers. In the course of the coming year, the conversion of the online marketplace to the Kaufland name and the expansion of customer and trader services are planned.

"We look forward to working with real.de employees in the future, to whom we offer not only attractive jobs but also further career prospects within the Schwarz Group," says Schumann. Real.de is one of the largest online marketplaces in Germany and has many years of expertise and experience in online business.
