Spain: Aldi boosts proximity

Discount Retail Chain Aldi Spain promotes proximity in the Valencian Community. Since 2020, the discounter has increased the sale of local products by 25%, whose assortment includes tigernut horchata, wines with Denomination of Origin in the region, rice or Valencian muffins, among other references.

Currently, Aldi works with 60 suppliers in the Valencian Community and offers more than 320 locally sourced products in its 67 stores in the region, as well as in some of its more than 400 supermarkets in Spain.

During the first half of the year, the discounter has added three new stores in the Valencian Community, the third region of the country where more stores operate. In just under two months, the company celebrated new openings in Valencia city (March 22), Villarreal (April 19) and Alzira (April 26).

"This growth strengthens the strategic position of the Valencian region within Aldi's expansion plans, with which it plans to continue expanding its presence in the area in the coming months," confirms the company.

Aldi offers in all its stores in Valencia an assortment of more than 2,000 products, 86% own brand and 80% of national origin. This assortment is complemented by bi-weekly WIGIG offers and promotions on commodities in the shopping cart and other customer favorites.
