Turkey: File expands in the Aegean

Discount Retail Chain File (owned by Turkish hard discounter BIM) entered the Turkish Aegean Region with the investment it made in Izmir Bornova in August of last year, continued its growth in Izmir with the stores opening in Gaziemir and Urla.


Soft discounter File, which started to expand to different cities of the Aegean Region within this year, started its new investments in the central districts of Afyon, Manisa and Uşak. With these openings, the number of File's stores in the Aegean Region rose to 6.


File, which has a total of 172 stores throughout Turkey, is still growing in Marmara as its main investment region with 144 stores. File has 4 stores in the Black Sea region and 2 stores in the Mediterranean Region. After the Marmara, the second region where the File is the most common is Central Anatolia.


File, which opened its first soft discount store in Ankara in November 2019, has increased the number of branches in the capital to 13. File also has 3 stores in Kayseri.
