Discount Retail Chain Netto Poland has started testing the deposit recycling system with the participation of customers in four locations Warsaw. This is the next stage after the completed internal testing phase, which aims not only to verify the operation of the machines and the system, but above all to check the usability of the entire solution from the customer's perspective.
This is the next stage after the completed internal testing phase, which aims not only to verify the operation of the machines and the system, but above all to check the usability of the entire solution from the customer's perspective. The system is being tested in cooperation with the deposit recycling system operator PolKa and InPost.
"The deposit recycling system is not just a machine. This is a change that affects virtually every area of our business, from operations and IT, through the sales department and supply chain, to the technical and equipment team. Adaptation of systems, employee training, preparation of the location, all this makes up the overall picture of this project", says Jakub Linkowski, Head of the Operations Support Department at Netto Polska.
Netto: what do bottle recycling machines look like and how do they work?
The tested machines were installed both inside and outside the stores. The devices vary in size, their format was selected based on sales analyses and forecasted return volumes. The internal vending machine is smaller than those in other locations, but it works just as effectively. All machines are equipped with a packaging press, which allows for good space management.
The system informs employees when the machine needs to be emptied via SMS or e-mail, depending on the set fill level. This is to prevent the device from being overfilled and unable to be used.
Not only bottle recycling machines, but also manual collection
Importantly, Netto also plans to implement manual packaging collection stations in each facility, which will be an alternative to vending machines, especially in emergency situations or increased traffic. Such a solution will allow the system to function efficiently regardless of the circumstances.
"Our goal was to create safe, transparent solutions that would be intuitive for both customers and store employees. The integration of the coreDRS system with Netto's IT systems will allow for automatic exchange of information and constant monitoring of processes in designated locations. We are glad that we can support Netto in this important process and jointly build a safe and comprehensive deposit system in Poland," comments Magdalena Markiewicz from PolKa.
Netto emphasizes that tests are not only a testing stage, they are also a time of learning, observation and improvement. Thanks to them, the chain will be better prepared for the October implementation, offering customers simple, convenient and efficient solutions supporting the recycling and reuse of packaging.
