Romania: Auchan launches a new hyper discount store concept

Hypermarkets Auchan Ploiesti (from March 23) and Auchan Timisoara Calea Șagului (from March 28) become Auchan Discount and offer customers a carefully selected commercial offer of up to 15,000 products, with low prices day by day, through which customers can save even more.

The new concept responds to all purchasing powers, offering consumers a varied assortment consisting of 60% food products and 40% non-food products, with an important emphasis on Auchan branded items, at the best quality-price ratio, products made in Romania and not only. Thus, approx. one third of the store's range is represented by Auchan branded products and exclusive brands.

In order to offer even better prices and advantages to consumers, the two auchan discount stores make important cost savings by reducing electricity consumption, reducing the spaces for refrigerated showcases, optimizing logistics processes and reducing transport costs. Also, investments in decoration and advertising are reduced, and the products are supplied and handled, as far as possible, to the pallet and box, using adapted furniture.

Moreover, the product ranges are carefully selected, consumables and packaging are diminished, and storage spaces are reduced. Last but not least, the retailer's ability to negotiate the purchase of large quantities helps to obtain even better prices within the network.

Great prices and advantages of the discount concept

"The development of this concept of hyper-discount, characterized by low prices and the advantages it brings to consumers, further underlines our mission to protect the purchasing power of customers, even more so in this period of inflation that we are going through. Auchan Discount, which we have introduced in the two remodeled stores, keeps the elements of customer experience, customer reception and service, services, as well as the orientation towards a sustainable trade, being at the same time a very demanding store concept at cost level, and the savings made are reinvested in the efforts to support the promised price level" said Tiberiu Dănețiu, Marketing Director Auchan Retail Romania.

In the two Auchan Discount hypermarkets, customers will also find a rich assortment of Romanian products, including over 40 Auchan national routes. We remind you that, in the Auchan network, the food range is made up of over 90% of products from Romanian companies, and over 85% of the company's suppliers are Romanians, including 100 ultralocal producers. As for Auchan's own brand products, their number amounts to over 1,200 items, of which most, over 700 are made in Romania, by Romanian producers.

Buyer comfort

The customers of the stores will still be able to enjoy comfort and an easy shopping experience, as the new concept of discount hypermarket keeps the alleys wide, offers a fast journey to customers, a visible signaling of the categories and a large number of cash registers (19 houses in Ploiesti, respectively 22 in the store in Timisoara) with scanning and collection services provided by the Auchan cashiers, as well as houses that can be operated in self-check-out mode.

The sales surface of the hypermarket remains identical following the remodeling, instead, in order to streamline costs and ease the shopping path, the structure of the districts has been modified, and certain categories of products are arranged at pallet level. The design of the store is a new one and highlights the promise to customers, that of offering low prices so that they can save day by day.

Shopping on and benefits

In addition, Auchan Discount customers can also make purchases on, and these can be picked up from the store through the Click &Collect service or from the hypermarket parking lot, from Auchan Drive. The range of services is completed, based on the MyCLUB Auchan loyalty card, by the free service of renting tools for home and garden, as well as by those for collecting used food oil, pet, aluminum and glass.

Within Auchan Discount, customers permanently benefit from 5% money back as a bonus on the MyCLUB Auchan loyalty card for over 3000 Auchan products and exclusive brands, such as Cosmia, Actuel, Qilive, Selecline, OneTwoFun, InEXTENSO or Airport. For the other brands in the ranges of fresh products, grocery, personal and home care, baby products, customers have a 3% discount on the spot for every 3 products purchased, until April 30.

In the first days of launch, customers of both stores also benefit from 10% money back as a bonus on the loyalty card to the entire shopping cart, in addition to the already existing discounts and promotions, within certain terms and conditions.
