Turkey: BİM commissioned its 18th SPP investment

Discount Retail Chain BİM continues its renewable energy investments without slowing down for a livable environment and a sustainable future. BİM commissioned its 18th SPP investment in Bafra district of Samsun. With the solar energy panels installed on the roof of the BİM warehouse in Bafra, 100 percent of the energy needs will be provided from natural sources. With this application, a reduction in carbon emissions equivalent to the gain of 417 tons and 6,220 trees per year will be achieved.


Bafra SPP, which has an installed capacity of 560 kWp, became the 17th of BİM's rooftop SPP projects, while the total number of SPP projects, including BİM roof and on-land, increased to 18.


With the solar energy panels installed on the roof of the BİM warehouse in Bafra, 100 percent of the energy needs will be provided from natural sources. While the production to be obtained within the scope of the project corresponds to the annual energy consumption of 239 households, it was measured that carbon emissions will be reduced by 417 tons per year, which is equal to the gain of 6,220 trees.


BİM will reduce carbon emissions by 22,400 tons annually with the BİM 18 SPP Project BİM, which has been continuing its SPP investments since 2020, aims to reduce its greenhouse gas intensity by 20 percent by 2026 compared to 2019 in the first stage.


The total capacity of BİM's 18 SPP projects has reached 27 MW. With 18 SPPs, a total of more than 13,600 households will produce equivalent to their annual energy consumption, while an annual reduction of 22,400 tons in carbon emissions and more than 380 thousand trees will be gained.
