Germany: ALDI launches cooperation with myflexbox

Discount Retail Chain ALDI Germany has added DHL parcel stations to numerous stores in recent years. With the latest cooperation partner, the provider-open parcel station network myflexbox, the company is now also equipping all remaining ALDI locations with a parcel service.

Running several errands in one trip is practical and saves resources. In addition to shopping at ALDI SOUTH, a parcel can also be picked up or a return sent in a short distance. "As one of the largest open, provider-neutral smart locker networks in Europe, myflexbox offers secure and flexible pick-up stations for parcels and goods a real added value for our locations," says Thorsten Koch, contact person for site cooperations at ALDI SOUTH. "Our customers can thus pick up or send parcels at even more locations. This saves them time and ultimately kilometers and that's good for everyone."

"Through our partnership with ALDI SOUTH, we can now make the everyday lives of customers, but also of parcel service providers, even easier across the board," says Lukas Wieser, Co-CEO & Founder of myflexbox. "We are proud to have found a partner in ALDI SOUTH who shares our vision of offering users increased convenience and flexibility while relieving the burden on cities' logistics and reducing unnecessary emissions."

Cooperation with myflexbox closes gap in services

Most ALDI SOUTH stores already offer DHL parcel stations. Thanks to the cooperation with myflexbox, locations that do not yet have a DHL parcel station can now follow suit. In the future, parcels from the logistics partners GLS, UPS and FedEx will be able to receive, send and return contactlessly at these stations. The integration of further logistics partners is planned for 2025. In North Rhine-Westphalia, the company is now setting up the first stations at ALDI SOUTH stores including in Duisburg, Bocholt and Moers. This year and next year, around 50 more locations will follow throughout the ALDI SOUTH distribution area.

ALDI SOUTH pursues "one-stop shopping" principle

In order to make store locations particularly suitable for everyday use and thus more attractive for customers, ALDI SOUTH is developing them further according to the "one-stop shopping" principle. This will create additional space for restaurants, supplementary retail or offices. Where the framework conditions allow, the local supplier is also open to all forms of living or creates rooms for daycare centres, fitness studios or mobility stations. The local supplier cooperates with a total of around 400 partner companies at over 1,300 locations and the trend is rising. The individual mix of uses is based on building law framework conditions, municipal requirements and local customer needs. ALDI SOUTH is very flexible and open when it comes to developing location concepts and possible partnerships.
