Poland: 1400 new jobs at Lidl

Despite the economic and social challenges, 2022 was a special year for Lidl Polska, because it was jubilee. The company celebrates its 20th anniversary in Poland. Along with the dynamic development, openings in nearly one hundred new locations, the chain recruited for its stores and warehouses, employing over 1,000 new people.


An important jubilee year for Lidl Polska is coming to an end. The network has not stopped developing in recent months and in connection with subsequent openings, it has hired over 1,000 new employees in Poland, who will earn more from next year.


Lidl: 2022 is a year of challenges

The year 2022 in the case of the Lidl Polska was marked by new challenges. While rising inflation left an increasing mark on the market and the lives of Polish families, the company constantly reduced the prices of its products, presenting Poles with further promotions, thanks to which customers could save even more every month. The chain has joined the existing permanent shares of the Lidlowy Savings Program, including: great reductions in meat prices, great reductions in fruit and vegetable prices and free Wednesdays when shopping with the Lidl Plus application. During increased spending before Christmas, customers can also take advantage of additional promotions as part of the Christmas calendar in the Lidl Plus application and try their luck in the Great Lidl Christmas Lottery, in which gift cards with a total value of PLN 1,280,000 (US$290,000) are to be won, describes Lidl Poland.

20th anniversary of Lidl in Poland

Despite the challenges, 2022 was a special year for Lidl Polska, because it was jubilee. The company celebrates its 20th anniversary in Poland. Along with the dynamic development, openings in nearly a hundred new locations, the network, with the support of the campaign "Are you LIDLealny? For us, yes!", recruited for its stores and warehouses, employing another over 1000 new people. Currently, Lidl Polska employs 27,000 employees who can benefit from over twenty non-wage benefits.


There will be 1400 new jobs at Lidl

In November 2022, the company announced raises for employees, which will take effect from January 1, 2023. Next year, the network also announced the creation of 1,400 new jobs.


From the new year, store employees will earn from PLN 4200 gross (US$960) to PLN 5150 (US$1,200) gross at the beginning of employment. Already after one year of work, the employer guarantees an increase in salary to the level of PLN 4400 (US$1,000) gross to PLN 5350 (US$1,220) gross, and after two years of seniority from PLN 4600 (US$1,050) gross to PLN 5600 (US$1,280) gross. The level of remuneration is each time defined in the employment contract.


In turn, store managers can count on remuneration in the amount of PLN 6700 (US$1,230) gross to PLN 7000 (US$1,600) gross, starting work in this position. After a year, the salary will increase to the level from PLN 7000 (US$1,600) gross to PLN 7400 (US$1,690) gross, and after 2 years it will amount from PLN 7800 (US$1,780) gross to PLN 8300 (US$1,900) gross. What's more, at Lidl Polska, all store managers are entitled to a comfortable company car. The amount of the increase is determined by the position held. In total, the company will allocate over PLN 230 million (US$52.5 mn) to increase remuneration.


The history of the Lidl network dates back to the 30s of the twentieth century, and the first chains under the brand were created in Germany in the 70s of the twentieth century. Currently, there are approximately 12,000 stores of this brand in 31 countries, and over 800 in Poland.
