Discount Variety Retail Chain Action (owned by PE 3i Group) expands its presence in Spain with a new store in Villarreal, in the province of Castellón. This is its first store in the Valencian Community and the ninth in Spain.
The new space will have almost 1,000 square meters. Located on Avenida Italia 23, it will have a parking lot with 40 spaces. It offers 6,000 products in its 14 categories (from toys and crafts to household products, through gardening, DIY and food). In its assortment, with 150 new products on its shelves every week, more than 1,500 of its products are priced below 1 euro and the average price of all products is less than 2 euros.
"We continue with the expansion in the Mediterranean area and now we open a new store in Castellón. We believe that it is a great bet to continue in this area, since there is a great demand and there is also a very interesting population that demands these products. We continue to work with these openings so that all Spaniards can enjoy the unique experience of Action anywhere in Spain," explains Bart Raeymaekers, Regional Director of Action and responsible for operations in Spain.
In terms of sustainability, Action works to bring its customers more environmentally friendly products. By 2021, 70% of Action's wood products and 86% of cotton products came from more sustainable sources. Action expects to reach its goal of 100% sustainable sourcing of these materials as soon as 2024.
With more than 2,200 stores in Europe, Action employs 68,000 workers, of whom more than 5,750 were hired between 2021 and 2022. In Spain, the number of employees already exceeds 200. With the opening of this new store, Action creates a total of 24 jobs in Villarreal.
