Spain: Aldi will increase the purchase of local fresh produce in autumn by 30%

Discount Retail Chain Aldi Spain expects to acquire more than 8,489 tonnes of fresh local autumn products in 2025, 30% more than in the same period of the previous year. With this initiative, the company consolidates its commitment to supply its stores throughout the national territory with local food.

Among the main products of this autumn season are fruits such as pomegranates, figs, apples, persimmons, chestnuts and grapes, and as for vegetables are aubergines, pumpkins, lettuce, cucumbers, peppers, leeks or carrots. This wide variety comes from key regions: the fruit comes mainly from Aragon, Extremadura, Catalonia and the Valencian Community, while the vegetables from Andalusia, Castilla y León, Murcia and Navarra, guaranteeing freshness and quality.

To respond to this demand, Aldi, which has more than 480 stores and a base of more than 7.7 million customers in Spain, works with a network of local suppliers with whom it maintains stable and long-term relationships, which allows it to adjust its fresh produce proposal to each season. Thanks to these agreements, almost nine out of ten vegetables and seven out of ten fruits available in its supermarkets come from national producers.
