Aldi plans to open more than 225 stores in 2025, marking the most store openings in a single year for the German discount grocer.
On Thursday, the Batavia, Illinois-based retailer entered the Las Vegas market for the first time, debuting two new locations. The stores opened at 621 Marks St. in Henderson, Nev., and at 2106 W. Craig Road in North Las Vegas. A third store is set to open in May at Rainbow Boulevard and Arby Avenue.
Shoppers received quarter-sized Aldi poker chips to unlock the grocer’s shopping carts, which require a 25-cent deposit. Henderson shoppers also had a chance to win access to a one-day-only “High Savers Room.”
Local CBS affiliate KLAS reported on the openings, noting that shoppers could purchase a dozen eggs for $4.47. KLAS said that price beats those at Las Vegas grocers Smith’s and Albertsons.

The expansion is part of the company’s five-year national growth plan, which aims to add 800 new stores by the end of 2028.
In Florida, the first of 14 planned new Aldi stores opened Thursday in Fort Walton Beach. Four more locations—Apollo Beach, Avon Park, Deltona, and Tampa—are scheduled to open May 1, with the remaining stores launching later in 2025.

Aldi sustained double-digit foot traffic growth for 11 months last year, according to data from Placer.ai, peaking at 22.9% in February. By December, growth had slowed to 8.8%—still more than double that of the second-fastest-growing chain, H-E-B, which recorded 3.6% year-over-year growth that month.
