Slovenia: Action opens first store in Slovenia in Velenje
Discount Variety Retail Chain Action is opening its first store in Slovenia today in the city of Velenje. Slovenia is the sixteenth country in which Action operates.
From today, residents of Velenje and other visitors can enjoy the Action formula: 6,000 good-quality and increasingly sustainable products in 14 categories (ranging from Laundry & Cleaning and Personal Care to Toys & Entertainment, Do-It-Yourself or Garden & Outdoor) at the lowest price. Action introduces 150 new products every week, ensuring a relevant assortment. More than two-thirds of our sold products are priced below €2.

We are already looking forward to opening our second Slovenian store in Maribor on 1 October.

Action continuously invests in product quality and sustainability, applying strict supplier and sourcing standards through its Ethical Sourcing Policy. All Action’s private and white label products use >99% certified sustainably sourced cotton, timber and cocoa. The palm oil in Action’s own food & drink products and candles is 100% certified sustainable. In 2025, Action’s near-term science-based greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets were validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). All Action stores are heated without gas and all stores, offices and distribution centres use 100% LED lighting.
With more than 3,500 stores across Europe, Action employs approximately 84,000 colleagues of 166 nationalities – as diverse as the communities in which we operate. The company created more than 4,500 new jobs in 2025 and invests in development opportunities like training and promotion. Last year, more than 3,700 colleagues were promoted to a job with more responsibilities.
The new Action store in Velenje is spacious and is easily accessible. The store is located at Celjska cesta 40 in Velenje and is open Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 20:00. The store is managed by a team of 19 employees.
