USA: Save A Lot revamps its Hispanic private-label range

Discount Retail chain Save A Lot announced Monday it is relaunching and expanding its private-label Hispanic brand under a new name, La Tierra de Sabores.

The brand features vibrant colors and patterns designed to reflect a more authentic, modern look and consolidates Save A Lot’s assortment of Hispanic items previously sold under the Tio Santi and Caracara brands and includes items like tortillas, seasonings and queso.

All items are transitioning to La Tierra de Sabores and will be available in stores over the coming weeks. Save A Lot is also expanding its product offering with the introduction of new bagged rice items and plantain strips, available in stores later this month.

Sally Fatzinger, vice president of Center Store Merchandising at Save A Lot, said the change reflects the communities the retailer serves.

It’s the second major private-label move by Save A Lot this year. In January, the retailer said it will remove seven artificial dyes from its private-label products.

All 113 affected products will be changed by the end of 2027. The appearance of reformulated products may differ from previous versions, but Save A Lot said its quality assurance team is working with suppliers to ensure the removal of dyes does not affect taste or overall quality.
